As
a pre-teen, Leonardo Flores was one of the original Jelly Skippers, Knott's
Berry Farm's answer to the Mouseketeers. His allergic
reactions to strawberries, though, made him too much of a liability
for the Knott's Worldwide Empire, and Leonardo was eventually
replaced by a kid in an anatomically-correct mango costume.
Leonardo spent the next several years trying to make it in Hollywood. He appeared on Star Search and made it as high as the quarter finals before it was discovered that his singing act was not supposed to be judged in the comedy category. He later appeared on the Cosby show as a couch which led to his regular gig as Dennis Franz's butt-double during "NYPD Blue" flashback sequences.
"I have a nice butt, sure," Leonardo tells us, "I just didn't only want to be known for my butt. I mean, I have nice knees. I have a really firm wrist. I'm more than just a pretty rump. I'm not like that Jillian Barberie, who's about as funny as a beloved pet's death... and not much sexier. But you know Hollywood politics." [Indeed.]
So, in continuing his revolt against Hollywood stereotyping, Leonardo took to his other passion: the turntables. He struggled for years, mixing at parties, burials at sea, and in wind tunnels before he was finally discovered by a Marty's Corner talent scout and offered a lifetime contract.
